China Harbin to Restore Fireworks Restrictions after Lantern Festival

Harbin residents must hand in their unused fireworks to local police stations before March 6, the next day of Lantern Festival day, according to local public security authority.

And the firework retailers will be requested to deliver the unsold products to designated warehouses no later than March 9.

Those who insist on keeping fireworks in their own hands will face punishment in accordance to regulation.

The authority will welcome public tip-offs on some other illegal behaviors, such as storing unqualified fireworks and transporting fireworks without license, through the “110” emergency line. And the offence-reporters will be rewarded in cash.

According to the data released by the local police, they have cracked down a total of 10 illegal warehouses, confiscating 3,080 pieces of fireworks and punishing dozens of violators by March 2.
