Harbin Plans to Build Experimental Area for Airport Economy

At this year's national "two sessions", Heilongjiang province will actively seek the official reply from the state on the planning of an experimental zone for airport economy in its capital city - Harbin's border region for the 2014-2025 period, to boost the airport-related industries in the zone.

With the help of the experimental zone, Harbin will become a cluster of aviation logistics industry, which will improve the country's aviation logistics layout and international competitiveness of the whole aviation industry.

Harbin is the nearest megalopolis of air route to North America continent in China and a stop for the route between Southeast Asia to North America.

Passengers from Harbin will reach Japan, South Korea, Mongolia, Russia and some cities in North and Southeast China in about two hours.

And the city's air cargo transport and distribution sector will expect a huge potential in Harbin's airfreight business with Russia, Northeast Asia and North America, as the Harbin Taiping International Airport has been on the list of the country's seven gateway hubs on a plan for China's civil aviation's Twelfth Five-Year Plan (2011-2015).

Last December, China's first aircraft dismantling base settled in Harbin.
