NE China Bringing WiFi Services for Harbin Snow Sculpture Art Expo

The administrators of the Sun Island Scenic Area in the city of Harbin, Heilongjiang province say they will be providing free access to WiFi for visitors during the 30th International Snow Sculpture Art Expo, this winter in the scenic area.

The announcement was made at a signing ceremony of a deal the scenic area struck with the Harbin branch of China Unicom and the State-owned communications infrastructure company China Tower Corp, on Aug 24, which is considered an important move in making Sun Island smart and wireless, a company representative explained.

This will allow visitors to help themselves to “Internet Plus” tourism on the island, as part of a larger “Tourism Cloud” database project that will give the administrators a more scientific decision-making method.

China Tower is funded by China’s three major telecommunications operators -- China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom – and is mainly involved in steel tower construction, maintenance and operation, as well as base stations, power supply, air conditioning and indoor distribution. Its declared aim is to increase resource sharing in the telecoms business, improve telecoms efficiency, allocate infrastructure better, reduce land waste, conserve resources, and protect the environment.
