The 29th Harbin Ice and Snow Festival 2013 - The opening ceremonies for annual Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival in Heilongjiang province in northeastern China were held earlier at the Harbin International Conference Exhibition and Sports Center this week.
The festival grand ceremony is featured by welcoming speeches, fireworks display and a series of theatrical performances. The festival is themed as "Ice City Harbin" and its major activities is to hold in Sun Island, Ice and Snow Amusement World and Zhaolin Park.
The event, held since 1963, can last more than a month, depending on the weather, and attracts visitors from around the world who come to see the elaborate ice and snow sculptures.
