China Harbin to Develop Educational Groups in 2015

The city of Harbin in Northeast China's Heilongjiang province will integrate the educational resources in different districts to provide more choices for students, according to a provincial videophone conference on educational reform held in Harbin on Feb 2.

About six primary and middle schools will be built to meet the demands of residents in the city's newly developed areas and 30 schools in its old town will be upgraded with educational facilities and faculty.

The city will set up educational groups in old towns to balance educational resources through sharing and exchange with the help of prestigious schools while encourage the prestigious ones to open branch campuses in new towns.

Online courses and training programs offered by famous teachers will benefit more students in pilot districts and counties thanks to the information technology and broadband Internet access, Teachers will share more information on various aspects, such as lesson planning and teaching methods, which will be good news for schools in rural areas.

Also, Harbin will build 15 schools in compulsory education and another 15 ones featured quality-oriented education in 2015, which are expected to provide more facilities for almost 60,000 children from migrant families.

Hongqiao High School and Xuanqing High School in Nangang district were united with six primary schools as an educational group last year, which integrated their high-quality educational resources and developed the curriculum to vitalize Harbin's education.
