Harbin Celebrates Volunteer Day in Heilongjiang China

Nearly 300 volunteers from all walks of life in Harbin, capital of Northeast China's Heilongjiang province, participated in celebrating activities on Dec 4, a day before International Volunteer Day.

Zhang Lixin, publicity chief of Harbin, attended the event and handed out awards to outstanding volunteer individuals and groups.

Zhang thanked volunteer for working to promote Harbin as a national civilization city and encouraged different media to report exemplary deeds of volunteers.

To further carry forward the volunteerism, the first newspaper for volunteers in Northeast China, Harbin Volunteers, announced its establishment at the event. Sponsored by the civilization office and voluntary association of Harbin, the newspaper will keep reporting volunteer activities and stories to the public every Thursday.
